Yocheved

Yocheved (also known as Jochebed or Yochabel) (born 1464 BC — died c. 1300 BC) is a minor character in the 1998 DreamWorks film, The Prince of Egypt. She was the birth mother of Moses, Miriam, & Aaron, the wife of Amram, the daughter of Levi, a granddaughter of Jacob and his first wife Leah, a great-granddaughter of Isaac and a great-great-granddaughter of Abraham. She looks like and is voiced by the late Israeli singer Ofra Haza, hence why she sings in both Hebrew and English in the film's opening musical number Deliver Us. She is first seen with her two children, Miriam and Aaron, while holding Baby Moses in the prologue. She wraps him up and puts him in the basket. With Aaron and Miriam, she rushes through Egypt and manages to escape to the river. There she blesses her baby for the last time and sets him adrift, crying as she does, and the basket eventually ends up at the pharaoh's palace, where Queen Tuya, wife of Pharaoh Seti I, finds him and adopts him into the Egyptian royal family.[1]
