Rameses

Pharaoh Rameses II (born 1335 BC — died 1213 BC) (also referred to as the Pharaoh of the Exodus) is the son of Pharaoh Seti I and Tuya, the adopted older brother of Moses, and also the main antagonist of DreamWorks's 2nd animated feature, The Prince of Egypt. He is based on the actual pharaoh who was the 3rd pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt and the longest reigning pharaoh of that dynasty, whose reign lasted 66 years from his ascension to the Egyptian throne in 1279 BC up until his death in 1213 BC and the Pharaoh from the Bible's Exodus story (despite the original Bible story from the Book of Exodus not giving the pharaoh a name, most Exodus adaptations, including The Prince of Egypt identify him as Rameses II); indeed, the movie, for the most part, follows the story faithfully. However, in the film, he and Moses were raised as brothers and the conflict between them is seen as a deeply personal one on both sides. He has approximately 100 children, including his eldest son Amun-her-khepeshef, who was killed in the final plague by the Angel of Death, and his successor, Merneptah, who produced the Merneptah stele (now housed at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo), which includes the earliest mention of the Israelites in the archeological record. He is voiced by Ralph Fiennes, who is also noteworthy for playing Lord Voldemort, the main antagonist of the Harry Potter franchise.[1]
