Joseph King of Dreams

Joseph: King of Dreams is a 2000 American direct-to-video animated biblical epic musical film. The film is an adaptation of the last thirteen chapters of the first book of the Bible, the Book of Genesis and serves as a prequel to 1998's The Prince of Egypt. The basic plot is that of a man named Jacob who lived in Canaan (present day Israel and Palestine) and had 12 sons, their names were Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Gad, Asher, Dan, Naphtali, Joseph and Benjamin. He also had a daughter named Dinah. Out of all his sons, Joseph was his favorite and on Joseph's birthday, his father gave him a colorful coat. However one day his brothers out of jealousy, tore Joseph's coat off him and threw him into a pit and sold him as a slave to Egypt. In Egypt, Joseph works for a man named Potiphar and he falls in love with an Egyptian princess named Asenath and ends up accurately interpreting the dreams of Akhenaten, the pharaoh, in that in seven years, there would be a famine that would not only affect Egypt, but also Joseph's old home, Canaan. Joseph eventually had his entire family move to Egypt to escape the famine in Canaan. The descendants of Joseph and his brothers then grew into a large people called the Israelites, setting the stage for the events of The Prince of Egypt.
