This character is the deuteragonist of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Esmeralda (born as Agnès de Reims) (born 1459 in Reims, France) is a young French Romani woman (referred to as a 'Gypsy' by many, however in the original 1831 Victor Hugo novel's original French, a Gypsy is referred to as an 'Égyptienne', which literally translates to 'Egyptian' in English, and the word 'Gypsy' is also a corruption of the word 'Egyptian' because the Romanis/Gypsies were long thought by most people to have originated from Egypt, when they actually originated from India and Pakistan) born in Reims, who dwells within the streets of Paris, the capital of France. Esmeralda is an outspoken humanitarian, which drives her to protect the deformed bell-ringer, Quasimodo, from his oppressors—namely the tyrannical Claude Frollo. This act of mercy, coupled with her beauty and cultural background, makes Esmeralda the main target of Frollo's wrath. She has a pet goat named Djali. She is voiced by Demi Moore.[1]
