Con Air is a 1997 American action thriller film directed by Simon West and starring Nicolas Cage (who also played Grug Crood from The Croods, John Cusack (who also played Dimitri from Anastasia) and John Malkovich (who also played Dave the Octopus from The Penguins of Madagascar) in the lead roles. Written by Scott Rosenberg and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the film centers on a prison break aboard a JPATS aircraft, nicknamed as "Con Air". The basic plot follows the just-paroled army ranger Cameron Poe who is headed back to his wife (whom he protected from a rapist eight years prior by killing the rapist, but got arrested and sent to prison in the process), but must fly home aboard a prison transport flight dubbed "Jailbird" with some of the worst criminals living. Along with Diamond Dog and Baby-O, genius serial killer Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom unleashes a violent escape plot in mid-flight. Secretly working with U.S. Marshall Vince Larkin, Poe attempts to foil Grissom's plan. [1]
