Anastasia is a 1997 American animated epic fantasy adventure musical comedy-drama film. The film is inspired by the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov of Russia, the daughter of Tsar Nicholas Romanov II of Russia, that claims that she, in fact, escaped the execution of her family. The basic plot is that of an eighteen-year-old amnesiac orphan named Anya who, in hopes of finding some trace of her family, sides with con men named Dimitri and Vladimir (the later also known as Vlad for short) who wish to take advantage of her likeness to collect a reward from the Grand Duchess.[1]
In 1999, a direct-to-video sequel/spinoff was released, Bartok the Magnificent.
After Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, Anastasia became a Disney Princess.
