Plaza de las Américas is the meeting point regarding the geek movement in the city and cosplay is no exception.
In an interview with Norte, Pablo Calderón, owner of the La Cueva comic book store and consolidated cosplayer, tells about his experiences in the world of animation and role-playing games.
"I started in 2003 when a place called Cheer Up was doing anime workshops and cosplay contests, in fact, they were the first to make such contests in the city," says Calderón.
He adds that when closing Cheer up, his next experience was in the Confront, and other conventions, reaching the World Cosplay Summit, where he obtained sixth place overall with Nadyasonika.
Calderón has a catalog of at least 15 characters, such as Bane, from the movie The Dark Knight Rises, by Christoper Nolan, Captain America or Nemesis from the Resident Evil game.
He explains that he opened a comic-related store called La Cueva.
COMIC OR SLEEVE
Pablo is defined as a multiplatform, in fact, he does not have a preferred animation style since the important thing is the quality of the contents.
"Customers of all tastes arrive at the store, everything I see with quality and heart I like," he explains.
THE COSPLAY RULES
Pablo Calderón says that to make a good cosplay you have to take into account three rules to have a good impression of the contests.
"The first rule of cosplay is that you look like your character, that guarantees you to have an impact and avoid teasing," he says.
The second rule is that he is a famous character, and the third is to choose complicated characters.
For this year, Pablo is charged with promoting culture and growing the geek movement in the city, "we want to erase the obscurantism that left the violence," he says. End of conversation
